Tree Removal Project January 2012

Members and Volunteers Appreciation Day
November 13, 2011

Schedule: 1:00 – 2:00 Strolled the Preserve with Board members and learned about exciting success stories at the Preserve in 2011. Then we moved to the Community Room at the Park, light refreshments were available.
2: 30 Special viewing of documentary “Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve” by Randy Baldwin.
3:30 Drawings for special prizes – everyone present had a chance to win!

 

Birding with Bob - May 5, 2010
At 8:30AM an intrepid group of bird watchers met at the Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve for coffee and an introduction to the site by Dr. Connie Vadheim, Professor of Biology at California State University, Dominguez Hills. This was a special event arranged for the customers of Bob Shanman's Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop.  There were lots of birds to see that morning and the outing was enjoyed by all.

The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints Helping Hands Day - May 8, 2010
Seventy-five volunteers from local Mormon churches gathered at the Gardena Willows Wetland Preserve to remove non-native plants and trash from the preserve.  A tremendous amount of work was accomplished and the efforts of these wonderful volunteers were greatly appreciated.

Environmental Festival
May 22, 2010 at Arthur Johnson Memorial Park, Gardena
It was a beautiful, perfect day for the Environmental Festival.  There was food, entertainment, educational booths, tours of the Preserve, presentations and more!
